Many layer farms in Barwala shut down due to high Land prices and low egg prices. One acre land is selling at Rs.2-4 crores. Poultry farmers were finding it difficult to run the layer farms due to low egg prices in the last 2-3 years. Land prices have given relief to those farmers who want to exit layer farming in the Barwala-Mouli area in Haryana.
