Punjab poultry farmers demands grain at subsidised price from Punjab Government

The Punjab Progressive Poultry Farmers delegation led by Mr. Mohinder Arora, Mr. Sanjiv Bassi, Mr. Jatinder Singh Laddi, Mr. Rajesh Gandhi, today met Food & Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs minister Mr.Bharat Bhushan Ashu at Ludhiana.

Mr.Jatinder Singh Laddi told eggchi.com that delegation has demanded the Punjab govt to provide grain at a subsidized rate to the Punjab poultry industry. During the last few months, the prices for maize has gone up from Rs.1600 per 100 kg to Rs.2300 per 100 kg and the price of bajra has gone up from Rs.1400 per 100 kgs to Rs.2000 per 100 kgs.

Grain constitutes 60% of the poultry ration. The sudden rise in grain prices has left the industry in severe financial crises. The egg production cost has gone up from Rs.3.25 per egg to Rs.4.25 per egg in just a few months.

He Further told that the delegation has demanded the Punjab Govt. to include eggs in the mid-day meal scheme of Punjab schools.

The monthly meeting of the Punjab Progressive Poultry Farmers will be held on 20th Feb 2019 at GADVASU, Ludhiana. In the upcoming meeting, the current situation of the Punjab poultry will be discussed and analyzed.
